An introductory course to outdoor rock climbing at Reimer's Ranch near Austin, TX that includes hiking, top-rope climbing, and bouldering. Climbers will improve their climbing techniques as well as learn the principles of building anchors and practice their skills by building top-rope anchors for themselves. Climbers will learn safety issues related to operating in cliff top environments, rappelling outdoors, using a top-rope outdoors, ethics and etiquette related to outdoor climbing, as well as do some fun and challenging climbing. Climbers will learn principles of full bolted climbs including the difference between types of bolts and bolted anchors, ethics and etiquette related to outdoor climbing, as well as how to properly lead climb and clean bolt-protected routes outdoors. Prerequisites: Climbers should be comfortable belaying, tying in, and have a basic understanding of outdoor rock climbing.
An advanced outdoor rock climbing course at Reimer's Ranch near Austin, TX and Enchanted Rock near Fredericksburg, TX for those who have some lead climbing experience and are looking to move beyond single pitch rock climbing. This is a two-day outdoor rock climbing course designed to teach climbers how to lead climb more than a single rope length, multi-pitch safety skills, multi-pitch rope maintenance, anchors and other topics related to multi-pitch rock climbing, as well as ethics and etiquette related to outdoor climbing. Prerequisites: Climbers should be comfortable leading 5.9 sport routes as well as lead belaying, tying in, and have a proficient understanding of outdoor rock climbing.
